The Lakers lost a late lead to the Chicago Bulls, as reigning MVP Derrick Rose floated home a dagger with four seconds left in the game. Kobe Bryant attempted to go 1-on-3 in the final seconds, but was blocked at the buzzer, as the Bulls took the NBA opener 88-87.
The Lakers bench provided a much needed boost without the suspended Andrew Bynum, outscoring the Bulls bench 29-18.
Andrew Goudelock, in his Lakers debut, nailed two three-pointers while Josh McRoberts had eight rebounds and two blocks to go along with his six points.
