Orange Lutheran stuns Foothill, awaits Edison

Orange Lutheran defeated Foothill 8-3 in the first round of the division I playoffs. The Lancers will host No.1 ranked Edison next Tuesday.

I asked Orange Lutheran's Andre Real (HR, 4 RBI) what he thought of Edison:

"I know Henry Owens is a great pitcher..."

I interrupted and told Real that Owens tossed a no-hitter earlier today.

All he could do was laugh.

Masked Angels fans smackdown world record

Tuesday, May 10 will be a date that will live in infamy.

Forget Scott Spiezio’s home run in Game 6 of the 2002 World Series. Forget Darin Erstad catching the final out in Game 7.

Those moments pale in comparison to the history that was made Tuesday night, as 40, 128 fans broke the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing costumed masks.

Surely no one will forget that night, and can anybody find El Jakster? He has my championship belt…

Lakers are in big trouble

The Lakers face an 0-2 series deficit for the first time since their Finals loss to the Boston Celtics in 2008, with a 93-81 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Los Angeles somehow managed to shoot even worse from three-point range than they did in Game 1 (2-20 3PFG). The Lakers only managed 32 points in the second half, and they now have to face a hungry Dallas team looking to close out the two-time defending champs.

“We want our arena to be louder than it was in Portland,” Rick Carlisle said. “That was the loudest arena, I’ve ever heard.”

Meanwhile, Andrew Bynum complained of trust issues, Pau Gasol got booed out of the building, and Ron Artest is facing a possible suspension for trying to tear JJ Barea’s head off. Other than that, Kobe seemed optimistic.

“Everybody’s tripping,” Bryant said. “Win the next game and move on to the next one, simple as that.”

If only the Lakers could be that simple to figure out.

Lakers give up 16-point lead in loss to Dallas

The Lakers gave up a 16-point lead and fell to the Mavs in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals, 96-94.

Kobe Bryant scored 36 points, but he took 29 shots to get there.

“It had nothing to do with me,” Bryant said. “I had games where I shot the ball 30 times, and Pau’s had big offensive games. I had games where I shot the ball 10 times, and Pau and Andrew didn’t contribute that much…it had nothing to do with my shots.”
