Hey gang, if you missed my California Life segment on Matt Barkley, you can check it out here:

Here is a blog I wrote for California Life regarding the High School football season kicking off:

Attention anxious parents and students all over this great state. High School football is back! There’s nothing like driving into a Friday night game, knowing two rival schools are battling for city pride.

Some schools to look out for are…

Servite of Anaheim:

Their senior quarterback Cody Fajardo is appearing in a new sports reality show called “The Ride.” He is co-starring with seven other quarterbacks to vie for a spot in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American bowl. These eight quarterbacks will be tutored by an all-star cast of instructors, hoping to turn them into Division I material. All this and Servite has the toughest schedule around. Their first game is against Long Beach Poly. They go on to face Clovis West and Chaparral. They finished (10-3) and (12-2) respectively. The Friars are ranked number one in Orange County, so if anyone can put up a fight, it’s them.

Edison of Huntington Beach:

The Chargers will receive a big charge (no pun intended, well yeah, I guess I did intend it) when Luke Gane comes back from his illness. Gane was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and he has fought his way back to the bright lights of Friday night. Edison won two Summer league passing tournaments, and they are returning 13 players from last year.

Long Beach Poly:

Poly won the Pac-5 championship last year, defeating Tesoro, but they failed in their attempt to win the State title. They’ll use that as motivation this year. The Jackrabbits don’t return many starters, but betting against LBP is like betting against the Yankees.

Oaks Christian of Westlake Village:

One of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Joe Montana will be coaching his son Nick to what sure seems to be another title. Nick is one of the hottest quarterback prospects to come along in quite some time. Must be something about his good genes…Anways, one of his favorite receivers is Trey Smith, son of actor Will Smith. Also, Wayne Gretzky’s son Trevor, is the backup QB. The Jonas Brothers attend this school as well, just kidding…

Football season just kicked off, so come on out and cheer your favorite school on!
