Fountain Valley outlasts Marina in defensive masterpiece
The Barons defeated the Vikings 3-2 in a defensive masterpiece. Both teams took turns trying to outdo the other, but the play of the day came when Daniel Rosica made a game-saving catch in the 6th inning.
Record day helps El Dorado edge Canyon
El Dorado's Joe Record pitched 7 innings of one run ball, then came up to the plate and delivered a walk-off 2 RBI hit to beat Canyon 2-1.
Mater Dei earns revenge, advances to state final
Mater Dei avenged their CIF loss to Etiwanda, 60-37, advancing to the state finals.
Windward ends Mater Dei state streak
Windward of L.A. ended Mater Dei's girls basketball 3-year run as state champions with a 81-71 win in the open division regional finals. Interviews with Monarchs players and coaches.

El Rancho, out of Pico Rivera, stunned San Clemente in the Division I SoCal Regional championship. The Dons scored three early goals in the first half and never looked back.

Mater Dei boys and girls dominate 1st round
Both Mater Dei boys and girls teams won convincingly in their opening round matchups of the CIF State playoffs. The girls beat Stockdale 91-46, while the boys beat El Camino Real 79-54.

Tustin's Hornsby leaves mark in win over Ocean View
The Tillers' Nick Hornsby fouled out with five minutes left in the game, but not before scoring 26 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and securing a couple of block in a 65-48 Tustin win over Ocean View.
Servite loses in PKs to Canoga Park
The Friars tied the game at 1-1 with seconds remaining in the SoCal Division II Regional semifinal as Felipe Silva knocked it in, but Servite fell in PKs to Canoga Park 3-1.

Late Mater Dei rally falls short
Etiwanda led Mater Dei by as many as 17 pts in the CIF Div. 1AA championship, but the Monarchs furious rally in the 4th quarter fell short. The Eagles won their first CIF championship since 2005.
Cold shooting dooms El Toro in title game
The Chargers shot a combined 2/24 from 3-pt land, and fell to Santa Monica 66-56 in the Division I-A championship game.

Santa Margarita falls in title game to Damien
The Eagles could not overcome a a furious fourth quarter rally by Damien in which Santa Margarita was outscored 18-6. The Spartans won their first CIF championship 54-40.
Tustin celebrates basketball championship
Tustin suffocated Royal of Simi Valley, holding the Highlanders to only two points in the 1st quarter, on way to winning their first championship since 1991.
Deondre Bryant and Xavier Powell each had 15 points.
