Esperanza late rally stuns El Dorado

"We got outcoached, we got outplayed, we got outhit, we got outpitched, we got outclassed," said El Dorado head coach Dave Moore.

Moore was annoyed that his team couldn't seem to make a fundamental play. An early bases loaded situation, with no outs, turned into two outs with one swing of the bat, as a runner was caught in a rundown after a sacrifice fly.

"Our guys battled out there today," Moore said. "But the bottom line is that one team wanted to win more than the other."

El Dorado trailed for much of the game, until a two-out rally turned the tide.

The Golden Hawks' Dylan Moore tied the game at 4-4 in the 6th. Chris Rivera followed him with an RBI double to take the lead, but Moore was thrown out at third.

Rivera then dropped his bat for a pitcher's glove, replacing starting pitcher Kyle Twomey in the top of the 7th. Esperanza immediately rallied as Kevin Viers knocked in Brandon Morones to tie the game. Ryan McCall then brought in in the go-ahead run to give the Aztecs the win 6-5.

Esperanza also defeated El Dorado on Wednesday, handing the Golden Hawks their first losing streak of the season.
